Gary, IN

The city was founded in 1906 by the United States Steel Corporation as the home for its new plant. The city was named after the chairman of U.S. Steel, Elbert H. Gary.

The city fell on hard times with the failure of the steel industry in the U.S. but is making a rebound. The airport terminal has been completely renovated with a new ticket counters, baggage claim area, restrooms, concession area, security area, jetaway and passenger screening area. Art galleries, unique shops and theatres are replacing urban blight. Gary is home of the Majestic Star Casino and the Trump Casino Indiana.
